Katie's Butterfly
Katie is not a frilly prissy girly girl. With 4 older brothers and me as a mother, I think it would be very hard on her if she was that way. But she definitely has some girlish tendencies. She's in love with the color pink. Loves to wear her hair in pig-tails or pretty bows. She was thrilled to receive some "lipstick" for Christmas this year. She is quite comfy in a dress. But she also loves to sword fight and climb on couches and yell and scream and fight with the boys.
But this art project we got in the mail was totally her. She was very determined to do it just right. She loves her little butterfly and did a great job. May I admit she did it all by herself? Some days I feel a bit bad when I see other parents acting like helicopter parents. Then I realize that is just not for me and not for my kids either. Nothing beats the pride of having done it all yourself.

Little Boy Blue
This is what happens when the middle children get the markers down and fail to clean them all up properly. Took the kid less than a minute to crawl under their table and draw all over his face.
Doesn't he look proud of himself? Yes, this is one of the reasons why I only buy washable markers.

Just a Picture
This is the kids' favorite picture right now. If this picture is up on my computer and Robert sees it, we instantly have clapping hands, waving and a babbling that sounds distinctly like "dada" along with giggles. Yup, the kid knows who his Dad is still. We just have to wait and see what the kid does when he sees a 3D version.

Gabe's First Haircut
Yes, I realize the boy is over 2 but I had not cut his hair before. Our kids seem to have super slow growing hair. But I got word that our kids might have been exposed to the dreaded creepy crawly lice bugs so I used that as motivation to give the boys their long overdue haircuts. Yes, I am well aware that the boys were looking a bit shaggy lately.

Fun Science
Kieran received a science kit for a late birthday present this year. Several of the boys decided to get it out last night. They made jelly crystals and a do-it-yourself lava lamp.
Now the hard part will be convincing the children that we do not need to keep their science experiments for months on end. Wish me luck on that one.

Here's Robert
He's stealing his brother's sippy cup.
He's pulling up to dig in the book box. I'm predicting he will be up and running in no time flat.
