Meal Plan

I've been told that making up a meal plan but then not transferring it from my menu planning notebook is just bad form. Apparently the guys in the house just want to look things up on-line.

Meal Plan

The meal plan is truly a helpful tool for not only keeping organized but also for keeping things in budget. It's also been very helpful for keeping other folks in the family aware of what they should make for meals when I'm not around to tell them.

Our side of beef will be delivered tomorrow so we can finally start putting beef back into the plan again.  Right now we have only a rib roast, a pound of stew meat, and a pound of sandwich steaks left. With a family our size, that really does not give us much to work with. But with beef prices set to rise significantly over the next few months, I am very happy to know that our freezers will be full for the year at lower prices.

M: bagels and fruit (B), grilled cheese (L), leftovers and/or FFY
T: eggs and toast (B), leftovers (L), pepperoni pizza pasta and zucchini (D)
W: Sean's birthday so I need to check with him
T: breakfast casserole (B), leftovers (L), alphabet soup and 1 hr rolls (D)
F: waffles and fruit (B), tuna sandwiches (L), mac and cheese with broccoli (D)

Teen Tuesday at Home Depot

The older three boys had their workshop tonight at Home Depot. This month they taught the kids some basic tile work and they made these mirrors.

Unfortunately, Kieran's mirror suffered a mishap on the way home so he just might end up making a new one with his Dad in a few weeks.

Abby's First Communion

Alan was called out of town unexpectedly so we arranged to have Abby's First Communion yesterday. She'll still attend the more formal Mass with the kids her age but we didn't want Dad to miss anything.

Teen Tuesday

A few promises I feel must be made to our teenagers.

1: I promise not to give you everything you want because that will only lead to a sense of entitlement and a lack of work ethic.

2: I promise NOT to look for a job for you.  You will do the work yourself because an employer is not going to hire someone who needs Mommy and Daddy to get the job for them.

3: I promise NOT to do your work for you.

4: I promise to let you fail and fall on your face a time or two. It is only in feeling the stink of failure that we learn to appreciate the joy that comes in true success and hard work.

5: I promise to love you no matter what choices you make in life and do my best to make sure you always know that your family is in your corner.

6: I also promise to give you a kick in the pants if you are being lazy or immoral. But not just because I disagree with your choices. There is a difference.
